It’s a great day to be Dutchmen!

Welcome to Gerald Elementary! You have made a great decision in joining our district, our school and our community. My name is Jared Tharp and this is my first year as principal of GES. My experience includes six years teaching in Rolla Public Schools where I also coached jr. high girls basketball and varsity football. From Rolla, I served as Assistant Principal of Dixon Elementary School before joining Gasconade County R-2. As a new member of the GES team, I can attest to the positive culture that this group of educators has developed and provides for our students and each other. We pride ourselves on being far more than just an elementary faculty; we are a family.
As GES is committed to the overall well being of each child, which includes supporting them socially and emotionally, we have made tremendous strides in strengthening our Positive Behavior Supports program. Last year, GES was recognized by the Missouri School-Wide Positive Behavior Support organization as a recipient of the Award of Excellence. Only 106 schools across the state met the requirements to receive this honor and only 58 schools received gold status. I am pleased to announce that GES was among the most elite, which speaks to the dedication of this team to provide a balanced and effective educational environment.
In preparation for this year, the district has improved security measures as well as sanitation efforts to provide an even safer and more secure learning environment for our students. I am proud of the way our team has embraced these adjustments and am confident that we are prepared to continue to meet the needs of our students even better than in years past. As we recognize that the 2020-2021 school year will bring about change, one thing that will remain consistent is our pride in our students, our building, our district and our community.
At GES, we have an extraordinary team and a great story to tell, every day. We celebrate the impact that our team has on students and the community, and like to share it. Stay current by following school happenings on our Gerald Elementary Facebook page and on Twitter by using #GESproud. Thank you for supporting our students and our school; and once again, welcome!
One Town, One, School, One Family!
